17-Year-Old Rising Motocross Star Tragically Dies During Training Accident

Enzo Badenas passed away, aged 17, during a private training sessions as the rising Motocross star looked to continue upping his skill set.

Enzo Badenas, a 17-year-old motocross rider, has passed away. He died during a private training session, which took place at the Red Sand MX Park circuit in Vilafamés. The tragic accident occurred on Sunday, Dec. 7.

Badenas is a previous 85cc championship winner and was seen as a rising star in the sport. He has previously competed at the international level, even participating in the European Championships. Badenas's mass will occur on Dec. 10 at the Monduver funeral home in Gandía.

Motocross is a dangerous sport, with some of the high-end bikes reaching impressively high speeds. Badenas clearly loved what he did and had all the talent necessary to go far within the sport. His passing will undoubtedly hit the Motocross community hard, especially due to his young age and the excitement he brought to those around him.

Badenas was part of the Spanish motocross national team. Following the news of his death, the Specialized Center for Motor Sports Technification (CETDM) released a statement.

"All the staff of the CETDM and the Circuit wish to give condolences, love and a lot of strength to all the family members, colleagues, friends and close ones of Enzo in these difficult moments," the statement read. "Throughout this time, he has shown great personal and professional growth that has led him to achieve various podiums and victories."

Enzo Badenas' Last Instagram Post Was a Tribute to His Father

When looking at Badenas's Instagram profile, a heartbreaking truth quickly hits you. His last post, which was uploaded on Dec. 4, was a tribute to his father for his Birthday.

"We've had bad moments, like when we were in the hospital, both crying, but also many good ones: finish a training happy, come back to music singing together, finish a race well, or climb the podium. Despite those good and bad times, I thank God for living them by your side," the post read. "You cannot imagine how good of a father you are and how proud I am of you."

Losing a child is every parent's worst nightmare. For his death to come so soon after his father's birthday is a stomach-churning turn of events. Badenas's family will likely want to put their son to rest with family and friends, in the hope that the media and spotlight stays away.
