When Anthony Emmanuel Labrador Sierra approached Perrysburg High School in Perrysburg, Ohio, as a minor with no parents, by law, they were required to provide him with education and a guardian. He was able to produce documentation proving he was 16 years old.
The 24-year-old Venezuelan was taken under the wing of a school and guardian who believed he was a teen. For more than a year, he was able to get away with it. He joined two sports teams and played the role perfectly.
Sierra produced an Ohio-issued driving license, federal Temporary Protective Status from the US Immigration Department, A VISA, and court ordered request for guardianship. It's not surprising they believed he was only 16.
During his time at the school, the 24-year-old posing as a teen joined the swim and varsity soccer teams. Despite allegedly being way older than his teammates, he only came 11th in his swim meets.
Baby Mama Blew The Case Wide Open
According to the report, the Venezuelan was ratted out by the mother of his child. She called his guardians and provided evidence that he was, in fact, not a high school student. She then provided police with documentation that Sierra was a 24-year-old rather than the teen he was posing as.
The claims were taken incredibly seriously, and Labrador was arrested on a traffic stop. He is being held on charges of felony forgery with a $50,000 cash bail. He has also been told to stay away from school grounds while the investigation is underway.
At present, it isn't certain whether the documents he provided, or the ones the mother of his child provided, are the real ones. Labrador Sierra still stands by the claim of being a teen rather than a 24-year-old.
The young man appeared in the US, claiming to be a young person with no guardian. Who knows what he was running from back in Venezuela? Hopefully, a full investigation will be made into the true identity of the maybe-not-so-young man.
For now, he is being held, and police are attempting to work out just who the mystery man from South America really is.
