3 Songs That Sound Like They’re Sung By George Strait But Aren’t

Some songs sound like they are sung by certain artists but they aren't. It is uncanny how similar two singers' voices can be. Take George Strait, for example. He has been in the music biz for a long, long time. He has won everything and done everything. Strait's voice is distinctive. Yet some other people do sound just like him. That might be intentional or not. Most vocalists want to sound like themselves, even if they are influenced by others. See for yourself. We have selected three songs by various artists that seem to resemble George Strait. What do you think?

'Lovin' You Is Fun' by Easton Corbin

Per the Grand Ole Opry web site, Trenton, Florida native Easton Corbin, 42, said, "It's about being authentic and that's what I try to shoot for when I write or record. I keep one foot in traditional and one foot in the modern and marry those two. That's really been my motto through the years."

He added, "I do love traditional country music. That sound is what drew me to country music as a genre. One of my very first records was a Merle Haggard album when I was a kid. The way he delivered a song, the emotion in his songwriting and in his voice, he was just the whole package."

One person who commented on this snappy 2012 song on YouTube wrote, "Sounds like a young George Strait. Love it."

Per Taste Of Country, co-writer Jim Beavers said, "Unfortunately, I have a tendency to write lyrics that don't leave a lot of room for breathing. Thankfully Easton heard and loved the song. He is one of the few vocalists out there who could do it and do it well. He also has such a knack and appreciation for cool, real country music."

'A Better Man' by Clint Black

This 1989 failed romance tune takes an age-old topic to a brand new place. Instead of bemoaning a relationship that did not work out, Black sings about how he is grateful because the experience enriched him as a person. Per The Boot, he talked about the song, which went to number 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart.

"You know, I don't remember a lot, other than that it was a different approach to a heartache song, and the idea that even though things weren't right, something good came out of it. And really trying to stick with a positive attitude about that."

Black added, "I've gotten a lot of comments over the years about how people appreciated that twist -- how it wasn't, you know, 'You're a jerk, goodbye,' but rather, 'Hey, something positive came out of this negative for me.'"

'You Look So Good in Love' by Cody Johnson

This is a cover of a George Strait song that did very well for him. Cody Johnson's version isn't too shabby either. In fact. Whiskey Riff called it "Near Country Music Perfection." When I listen to Johnson sing it, I hear echoes of Strait's approach. Whether you feel it sounds like him or not, Johnson's cover is soulful and utterly beautiful.
