4 Country Legends Who (Shockingly) Never Won a Grammy

For many artists, across all genres, winning a Grammy Award is the pinnacle of success. Still, there are plenty of country music legends who have enjoyed superstar careers, but never walked away with the coveted trophy.

We picked four country legends who shockingly have never won a Grammy Award.

1. Kenny Chesney

Kenny Chesney has been nominated for a Grammy Award a total of six times, but still never won one. Even more surprising, his last nomination was in 2017 for Best Country Album, for Cosmic Hallelujah. The trophy instead went to Chris Stapleton, for From A Room: Volume 1.

Chesney has plenty of other trophies, fortunately. He was also just named Billboard's Country Artist of the 21st Century. He will also become a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame later this year.

2. Luke Combs

Luke Combs has won plenty of ACM and CMA Awards, but he has yet to win a Grammy. Still, Combs has been nominated a total of eight times, which is a lot of recognition from the Recording Academy. Combs' last nomination came for the 2025 Grammy Awards, for Best Song Written for Visual Media. Combs' "Ain't No Love In Oklahoma," from Twisters, was nominated. The award instead went to "It Never Went Away," from American Symphony, written by Jon Bastion.

Combs is working on a new album, which means his chances of at least receiving more nominations are very, very high.

3. Morgan Wallen

Morgan Wallen has not only never won a Grammy Award, but he's only received two nominations, a surprisingly low number for an artist with his amount of success.

Wallen was nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Country Song, both for "I Had Some Help," at this year's Grammy Awards. It's even more surprising that those are his only two nominations, since Wallen has broken records for his success in country music.

Wallen released the song with Post Malone, for Post Malone's F-1 Trillion album.

4. Dierks Bentley

With almost 25 years in country music, it's shocking that Dierks Bentley has never won a Grammy Award. Even more shocking, Bentley has been nominated an astonishing 15 times, most recently in 2024, for Best Country Duo/Group Performance, for "High Note."

Fortunately, Bentley is taking his losses in stride.

"I put zero stock in that," he tells Taste of Country Nights. "In some ways, it's almost more beneficial to be kind of on the outside and not be too inside industry politics and all of that."
