Carrie Underwood: The Surprisingly Great Farmer

I will be the first to admit that I didn't necessarily assume a famous singer and Hollywood star would be good at farming. After all, running a farm requires a lot of work and definitely gets your hands dirty. However, Carrie Underwood has proved time and time again that she is up to the challenge. These four examples are just some of the times that Carrie Underwood proves she's a great farmer.

1. She Is A Problem-Solver

Farm life is not for the faint of heart. It comes with its challenges, and with 400 acres of farmland Underwood is sure to have her fair share of them. However, one thing that is giving her some of the most trouble right now is closer to home — a sheep named Gary. Turns out this sheep is a bit of a bully and likes to steal most of the food from the rest of the flock. Rather than be frustrated Underwood came up with a solution. She gave Gary his own bucket to eat from so that he could still get his food while the others were not disturbed. Then she watched over them like a proud mama. A fan page shared the singer's story of Gary on Instagram.

2. She Isn't Afraid To Get Her Hands Dirty

Also on Carrie's farmland is an impressive greenhouse. While she did hire experts to come in and help her construct her greenhouse she wasn't afraid of getting her hands dirty. She was right beside them throughout every step of the process. A video shared by Epic Gardening shows Underwood shoveling, planting, and seeding in her new greenhouse. All while she learns the tips and tricks of the trade. Not being afraid of getting dirty definitely makes Carrie Underwood a great farmer.

3. She Understands The Importance Of Real Food

If you are going to be a good farmer you need to understand the value of what you are doing, and Carrie does. In an interview with Dr. Josh Axe, Underwood discusses the importance of real food. She mentions how most people have lost touch with what real food is in today's society. From there she tells Axe how she moved to the country and immediately set up a garden because she realized how important it was. Not only to build this life skill but to understand where her food is coming from. She told him, "My goal is to not buy food from the store anymore."

4. She Is Resilient And Patient

Another way that Carrie Underwood showed us she is a great farmer is through her resilience and patience. Despite many setbacks and learning curves she has not given up on her farming dreams and endeavors. The star admitted that she has a garden, a greenhouse and is now in the process of building another greenhouse. Additionally, she mentioned how many of her trees did not survive in her fruit orchard this year however she is not giving up. "It was a tough year in our orchard this year" the star mentioned, "but we are starting over with a lot." That is the kind of determination and good attitude that you need to be a successful farmer.
