In the movie, Indiana Jones, the fictional archaeologist played by Harrison Ford, is fleeing an ancient temple that houses a golden idol. However, he inadvertently triggers a booby trap that releases a giant boulder. If Jones doesn't outrun the rock, he will become a pancake.
It's an iconic scene recreated daily for fans inside the Florida amusement park's Hollywood Studios. But yesterday, some visitors reportedly got a little too close to the action. Thankfully, someone stepped in and saved the day. The details are below.
The Audience at Walt Disney World Was Packed
The cast members of the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Walt Disney World appeared to be performing for a full house on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
The audience appears enthralled as flames shoot up from the stage. A stuntman in Indiana Jones' trademark leather jacket and fedora begins running down an incline. What's he running from? A giant boulder!
But things went from exciting to dangerous when the prop bounced off the incline. The audience yelled in shock as it bounced toward them.
One Cast Member Saved the Day
As the boulder rolled toward park visitors, a Walt Disney World cast member quickly placed himself between the prop and the audience and intercepted the boulder. The brave soul was struck and knocked to the ground. Thankfully, he managed to push the sphere away from the audience, preventing any harm to others.
Unfortunately, no good deed goes unpunished. An audience member on Reddit said, "The cast member was able to walk, but was bleeding on the head."
The cast member's condition is unknown at this time.
This isn't the first time things have gone wrong at the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. Last year, the boulder didn't come out at all. The audience and the actor playing Indiana Jones were left confused.
