You can't talk about country music without talking about Johnny Cash. He was well-known for his deep and calm baritone voice as well as his incredible storytelling. Although most of his songs focused on hardships and moral conflict, many working-class Americans easily resonated with his honest lyrics and narratives. Having a career that spanned nearly five decades, Johnny Cash had some incredible hits. One of his most well-known songs was "Folsom Prison Blues".

Honestly, Chris Stapleton has to make this list for me. I mean "Tennessee Whiskey" was my first dance song at my wedding so that tells you all you need to know. Stapleton has a way of blending country, rock, and R&B that has made him very popular. While traditional country fans may not always love his unique style, I find his voice smooth as butter. His soulful voice and honest, gritty sound is some of the things that draw me most to his music. He's had much success, especially with some of his cross-over work where he has co-written or performed with other artists. Some of his most popular songs are "Fire Away," and "Whiskey And You."
