The son and tour manager of the "You're Gonna Ruin My Bad Reputation" singer, Ronnie Jr., shared the news on his Facebook page on July 15. He stated that his 75-year-old father's operation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

What Happened to Ronnie McDowell?

For those unfamiliar with McDowell's health issues over the last few weeks, here is a recap:

A concerning incident occurred at the Summer Solstice Festival in Oley, PA, on June 21. McDowell began slurring his speech and "not making any sense," according to Ronnie Jr. The singer was taken to a hospital in nearby Reading, PA., for treatment and released several days later.

Several days later, McDowell confirmed he had a stroke in a video he posted on social media. He filmed it while out on a walk.

While pointing to a spot on his neck, he said, "I gotta get all this plaque cleared out here of my jugular. But you know what? I'm walking. Yup. I'm doing my two-mile walk."

In the weeks since, McDowell has continued to perform.

"Well, it's about 5:00 in the morning, I just got home from getting everything squared away with the incredible concerts that DAD had for his Fan Appreciation Weekend," Ronnie Jr. wrote in a

Facebook post on July 13.

What's Next for Ronnie McDowell?

Ronnie Jr. stated in this latest update that he's been through the ringer over the last few weeks.

"It is hitting me hard. He is the Best Dad that any Son could ever ask for," he wrote. "We have traveled all over God's Creation together and we will continue to do so once he gets through this.... Please Pray for my Incredibly Awesome blessing of a Dad!

"I know dad is strong and will get through this, but it still has my nerves shot. I'll feel much better once he's over the surgery healed and back to normal. Then it's vacation time and I will finally be able to breathe easy and relax."

Fans of the "Older Women" singer have continued to show their support over the last few weeks. One comment on Ronnie Jr.'s latest update stated that "this surgery will be a piece of cake for him. It's a blessing that he had a mild stroke so they caught it in time."
