An 83-year-old Holocaust survivor, Ludmila Lipovsky, was waiting for her daughter to pick her up for a doctor's appointment on December 27. All of a sudden, a man identified as Ibrahim Shalhoub, a Palestinian terrorist, allegedly attacked Lipovsky and fatally stabbed her multiple times. Security guards shot and arrested Shalhoub. First responders rushed Lipovsky to the hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.

Lipovsky was just outside of her nursing home in Herzliya, Israel, when the attack took place. The 28-year-old Shalhoub was a former informant who was in charge of preventing terrorist attacks on Israel, according to the Jewish Chronicle. Labeled a West Bank terrorist, Shalhoub allegedly shouted "Allahu Akbar" before stabbing Lipovsky.
One nursery staff member talked with the Times of Israel, detailing the violent incident that happened on the second day of Hannukah. "She [Ms Lipovsky] went out and waited for her daughter to take her to the doctor and the terrorist started stabbing her, five or six times," the staffer said. "She has been a resident of the nursing home here for many years. I heard screams, I went out and saw her lying on the floor."
A Violent Incident
Israel Police then issued a statement, confirming the incident. "Emergency police dispatch received a call of a stabbing terror attack in a shopping center in Herzliya. A 28-year-old terrorist from Judea and Samaria arrived here armed with a knife and began stabbing individuals," reads the statement. "According to medical sources, one of those victims was a woman who was here enjoying her morning, preparing for the holiday, preparing for Shabbat, when this suspect began stabbing her."
The Jewish Chronicle reports that a security guard shot Shalhoub. He is currently in serious condition. "The suspect was arrested at the scene and will be transferred for Shin Bet interrogation to continue investigating the circumstances of the attack," the Israel Security Agency stated.
Many Israeli authorities addressed the tragic death of Ludmila Lipovsky. "Heartbreaking news. This morning, Ludmila Lipovsky (83) was stabbed to death by a Palestinian terrorist in Herzliya. Our hearts are with her family," the Israel Foreign Ministry posted on X. "May her memory be a blessing."
Ministry Diplomat Yaki Lopez described the incident as a "nightmare." "She was someone's mother, grandmother, friend," Lopez said of Lipovsky. "A life stolen in a despicable act of hatred. Israel mourns her loss and stands united against terror. Evil like this will never break us."
