If you've ever wanted to execute a practical joke that would make you the pariah of your friend group for the rest of forever, then take a lesson from Texas-based shop Hurts Donuts. This Dallas-based sugar factory went viral for its inventively terrifying delivery method. For only $5 extra dollars on top of the regular $5 delivery charge, and you could get a box of fresh, warm donuts, personally delivered via the claws of a scary clown.
Just think of how cheap of a bargain that is to remind your friends that their lifelong fear of clowns is both very rational and very real. This reminder is even more effective when employed at 1 a.m. since Hurts is open 24 hours a day.
"We always try to keep up with the trends, and clowns are trending right now," says Hurts Donut co-owner Kas Clegg told GuideLive. "It's fall, and it's getting close to Halloween, so we just wanted to spice it up a little bit and do a super fun delivery."
Clearly, the love of scary clowns has made some serious in-roads since the days of our childhood when they were viewed as an off-limits joke rather than a comic delivery man.
Unfortunately, this delivery service was only available on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 25-26. While those who were on the receiving end of donut deliveries are probably thanking their lucky stars, those who were sending the clowns services are likely feeling a little put out at losing their favorite practical joke.
However, due to the viral popularity of the idea, the Frisco store that was dispatching clown-delivered donuts posted on its Facebook, "If we have enough interest in surrounding communities, let us know in the comments below, we may pick a day for out of town clown deliveries as well!"
So if you want to prank your friends, better let them know which location to start sending clowns from!
