Although news hosts always look cheery on your television screen, that is not always the truth. The reality off-screen at Good Morning America is much more daunting. It appears as if it is never truly a "good morning" over there as insiders reveal the terrible work conditions they have to suffer.

'Good Morning America' Blasted For Terrible Work Conditions
Page Six shares that Disney and ABC have left their former NYC headquarters. They recently moved to a new building further downtown. However, some staff members of Good Morning America were not so lucky. They have been forced to stay in their current building on the Upper West Side. A source from the show told the outlet, "There's no Wi-Fi, no heat, the antenna ripped off the building over the weekend and they're not replacing it."
While some may write that complaint off as one disgruntled employee, there are more who spoke up. Another source told Page Six, "The heat is off!" Additionally another source complained of the apparent smell stating, "It smells like crap." With more and more accusations rolling in it appears that Good Morning America truly does have some terrible work conditions.
One source complained that this particular building has had a foul odor and has been in unfavorable condition since the 1980s. However, with new owners tearing down old buildings and building new ones there is "no incentive for upkeep" a source revealed to the outlet.
Things Get Worse
A chill and a musty smell are not the worst of the terrible work conditions. Page Six reminded its readers that in 2023 they reported about "an infestation of mice and a coterie of fleas at the building." The infestation was so bad that it prohibited employees from working on the fifth floor of the building.
Additionally, the building has suffered from typical maintenance errors such as broken elevators and escalators. While you could never tell the deplorable conditions from your TV screens at home viewers knew something was off. It is interesting to note that this decrepit building is not the only thing going down. Good Morning America has been consistently losing ratings to its rival Today.
Perhaps the deplorable condition of the building is finally taking its toll on the employees forced to work there. Now, it is affecting how they work —therefore their ratings. While there is hope on the horizon for the disgruntled employees stuck in these terrible work conditions, there is much work to do.
