Oven gloves have one purpose, and that is to stop you from being burned, which is why these are being recalled.

If you have bought yourself a pair of Temp-tations Oven Gloves from QVC recently, send them back. They'll offer little to no protection from hot products. They have already injured a number of people, using them as intended.
There have been a total of 1.1 million of the oven gloves recalled due to the burns received. They were sold in single pairs, sets of two, and as a bundled set. If you have bought anything kitchen glove-related from QVC recently, it's probably best to check they're not in there.
QVC have issued the recall after the oven gloves were reported to have burned 92 people, with 162 reporting insufficient protection. That's a lot of burnt fingers.
If you have a pair then you need to contact QVC for a full refund. They can be contacted via 888-770-7119 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Time Monday through Friday. Or, if you prefer, you can just pop onto their recall page.
QVC Oven Gloves Recall Is Just One Of Many
The Christmas oven glove recall is hardly alone in the number of items being recalled across the US. Recently, thousands of foods, cars, and even ornaments are being pulled from shelves. There are various reasons for these recalls, but it's usually down to insufficient regulations.
In the case of these oven gloves, the recalls have been made due to the items being shipped in from an unregulated Chinese factory. Due to the unknown nature of the factory, insufficient checks had been done on the gloves. They were clearly not up to spec, and unable to actually prevent burns when used as intended.
However, many of the recalls around the US are for food products, which is much more alarming. Huge outbreaks of diseases like salmonella and E. Coli have been found in many household foods. In some cases, the recalls have been so large, that companies like Target have had to resort to robocalls to issue them.
Make sure you're not using these defective recalled oven gloves this Christmas. Dropping a hot pan of Christmas turkey would ruin the whole day.
