Mariah Carey Breaks Silence After Backlash Over Latest Video

I watched the Spotify Wrapped Mariah Carey video, and I understand why people think it might be AI. However, she's spoken up, putting fans' minds at ease. She's still real.

The video is a bit creepy in that uncanny valley way that AI often is. Mariah Carey just seems to move a little oddly, and her eyes are just a bit dead. But, it's the festive season, sometimes it just pulls the life out of you.

Fans quickly took to X to speak about how strange the whole thing looked. "I can't tell if this is AI or she got a gun pointed at her..." one commenter noted. I can see what he means too, her smile is quite forced. However, amid the allegations, she has spoken out reassuring people that she is all too real, and definitely not under duress.

On X, Carey stated "Bad lighting and a red lip have you all thinking this is AI?? There's a reason I'm not a fan of either of those things!" She's not using AI apparently, it was all just a trick of the camera. She would never do that to her fans, especially at this time of year. She's about to make her annual $3 million, she can afford not to.

Mariah Carey Has The Support of Her Fans

Of course, once she posted this, the majority of the accusations stopped. Many people scrutinized the video a little more closely and noticed a few distinctly not AI traits. As one keen-eyed commenter noted "She said it wasn't AI... like obviously just look at her eyes reading the teleprompter as well as her breathing patterns. and pls she's too rich for AI."

On closer inspection, it is possible to see Mariah Carey breathing and reading her teleprompter. But, these days AI is getting pretty crazy. I wouldn't be surprised if it's learning to imitate our deeper nuance. However, in this case, we can take the word of Mariah Carey and believe that her heartfelt message to Spotify listeners is genuinely her.

Sometimes, someone like Mariah Carey just looks so perfect that she convinces everyone there is no way she could be real. It's the curse of being beautiful I guess.
