Paul Cauthen Unloads On Oliver Anthony: "Keep Your Mouth Shut”

Oliver Anthony has made a lot of noise recently, and it seems that enough is enough for Paul Cauthen.

Anthony recently released a 15-minute video that was full to the brim of criticisms of the music industry, venues, artists, and Washington D.C. Although he raises serious concerns and speaks of important issues, he also has a lot to say about the music industry that some find rather harmful.

The singer has announced that he's leaving the music industry before properly diving in, and has left scathing criticisms of artists along the way. Something Paul Cauthen has not taken kindly to.

"Alright, I guess I've had enough," Cauthen started his Instagram video with, "Oliver Anthony, shut your mouth."

Cauthen only comments on Anthony's disparaging of the music industry and artists. Nothing about any of the other issues Anthony brought up is being disputed.

"You're talking about people using autotune, and people boosting up ticket prices, and you yellin', and screaming at people that are talent buyers that want to bring you in and give you money to do what we do. All you are, is ruining relationships, and you're hurting people that actually work in our industry," Cauthen criticizes.

Anthony had accused an artist (that the internet figured out to be Parker McCollum) of using autotune and backing track at a live gig, something the artist had to clarify and answer. It's a damaging rumor to say if untrue, and Cauthen recognizes that.

His Instagram video is pretty long, but you can watch it here.

Paul Cauthen Thinks Oliver Anthony Is Doing More Damage Than Good

Another criticism Cauthen has of Oliver Anthony is that Anthony simply hasn't been in the industry for a while. The singer was a breakout success overnight, a 'one-hit wonder' as many call him.

And after suddenly finding huge amounts of success overnight, and pumping out one album, he denounces the music industry. This is something Cauthen hasn't taken kindly to.

"I've been in this business since '07, before this redhead was wiping his a-s," Cauthen states.

"Here in Texas, we have songwriters people that have been working in this business since before you were playing your little TikTok songs, okay?" Cauthen criticizes.

Cauthen ends his rant with, "Sing songs, and shut up."

And it's true, Oliver Anthony hasn't had to put in as much sweat as the likes of Paul Cauthen have, so he may have less appreciation for the music industry. However, if the industry is as bad as he's saying, then it may not take much experience to see it and expose it.
