Camerota revealed the news to her Instagram. In a post, the former CNN anchor wrote, "Big News, Everyone! — today is my last day on CNN. Tune in at 4:50p (et) for my sign off. Keep it here for updates! ??????"

The picture was herself at her usual station.

This bombshell came out of nowhere to the anchor's fans, who were very sorry to see her go. No reason was given for her departure, and it wasn't clear whether she left or was fired from the post.

According to TV Line, Mark Thompson, the CNN chairman and CEO, shared the following statement about Camerota, "Alisyn is a rare talent with the ability to interview world leaders and everyday heroes with both strength and empathy. She's been a wonderful colleague at CNN for more than a decade, and we will be cheering her on in her new pursuits where she will surely find much success."

The journalist and writer had her last episode yesterday, and she won't be returning.

Alisyn Camerota Calls Leaving CNN A "Curveball"

Camerota has left hints about her departure from CNN. Her most recent Instagram post goes over what she's up to after leaving the network.

Without going into detail about CNN, Camerota alludes that it wasn't her plan to leave.

"Welcome to Reinvention. this is what it looks like when one of life's earthquakes destroys your foundation. You rebuild, even while still sifting through the rubble," she writes. Calling her departure an 'earthquake' is a pretty destructive metaphor, so it's likely that she didn't quit.

"When life hits us with curve balls, it's unsettling," she also says, suggesting the departure was unexpected.

It's still unclear why she had to go, but it seems she didn't have a say.

She seems to have hit the floor running, however. She also shared what she's up to now she's no longer an anchor for CNN.

"Here's what my mornings are like now: answering emails, creating show concepts, making phone calls, shooting new shows," she writes. It seems although she's no longer an anchor, the cameras haven't seen the last of her yet.
