Some jobs can certainly be done better while a little high, trust me. But others, like filming the intimate scenes in Red Dawn are probably best done sober, as Jennifer Grey revealed.

The film, starring Patrick Swayze, among others, featured a sex scene in a tent on a mountain with him and Grey. However, it never made the final cut due to the two of them being intoxicated. Grey recalled looking over the Red Dawn scene in preparation and being excited. She described it as "one of the more tender scenes which was, I thought, part of the reason I wanted to do the job."
"As an actor, you're looking at all your stuff in the script, and you're like, okay. I'm running. I'm shooting. And, I'm running. I'm throwing hand grenades. I'm killing myself with a hand grenade. But this is the only acting scene I get to do where I'm not doing action," she recalled. But it was a little much for both Swayze and Grey and they both showed up to the Red Dawn scene a little high.
According to Jennifer Grey, Swayze was drunk for the intimate tent tussle. He had been drinking to help with nerves, and she had been smoking a fair amount of weed. During The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter, she spoke about the eventual fate of the intimate high scene in Red Dawn. "[Swayze] didn't know his lines. And then it got cut. And they said, 'We'll come back and reshoot it.' But, of course, they didn't."
Getting High Didn't Help
As Jennifer Grey recalls during her time filming Red Dawn, "I was smoking a lot of weed in those days, too. And so, I was super paranoid, and I was scared. I didn't sleep the whole night. So when I went in to shoot my big love scene, my big ... romantic scene with him, I was so angry because I was, you know, all self-righteous."
She was a little put out that the lack of sobriety on Swayze's part had robbed her of her chance to get steamy on screen. However, she got another chance later in her career when she shot Dirty Dancing with him. Hopefully, they were both a little less wasted this time around.
I don't think I would have been able to deal with a sexy sleeping bag scene if I was high. My giggles would ruin the whole moment. Can you imagine?
