Mario Lopez Opens Up About His Faith And Religion

Mario Lopez is very fortunate and thankful for everything coming his way at this point in life. He, however, does not attribute his successes to mere luck, but to something he has discovered recently. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Lopez opened up about his newly found Catholicism that, according to him, is "very important" to him.

"My faith is very important to me, and I'm vocal about it... I'm not ashamed," he told the outlet. Faith is also very important to the rest of his family: his wife Courtney and their children. "My kids are raised in a faith-based education. They all go to Catholic school," Lopez continued. "It's something that's the infrastructure of our family, and I'm proud of that."

The "Saved by the Bell" star then talked about how, as he grew older, he also started to grow "spiritual muscle." And perhaps the climax of his "spiritual workout" took place back in 2018. Then, days before Holy Week, Lopez posted a video of his baptism in the waters of the Jordan River.

"Mario is in the Jordan River and he wanted to be baptized," a priest says to the people congregated. "Mario, do you believe in Jesus Christ? Do you believe he is the Son of God? Do you intend to serve Him all your life?" the priest asked Lopez. Mario Lopez, convincingly, answered all of these questions with "Yes, I do." He is then submerged and baptized in the very same river that, according to the Bible, Jesus himself got baptized.

Embracing His Faith

Since his baptism, Lopez has not been shy of sharing faith-related content on his social media accounts. Most recently, on December 8, he shared with his more than 3 million followers on Instagram that he attended mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. "What a blessed way to end the week here in NYC," he wrote.

For Mario Lopez, things have been "going very well" for him, but he finds no coincidence between embracing his faith and his current success. "I feel very fortunate and very grateful for that," Lopez said. "Once you hit a certain age, all you really want is God, family, stability and peace."
