A Heartfelt Goodbye Message

On December 23, Silzer left a heartfelt message on social media about her exit from the American daytime soap opera. "To my amazing General Hospital family who have supported me and watched me grow up over the years as Emma I am forever grateful.

"Although sad my time as Emma has come to an end I will cherish all of my memories and friendships made," she continued. "I am so lucky to have been casted as Emma 13 years ago and to have had the opportunity to grow her character over the years."

Silzer ended the message by noting how excited she was to see how Braedyn would handle Emma and "bring new layers to her character." She also said General Hospital and her character would "always hold a special place" in her heart.

The replies to this post flooded with kind messages from fans who wished Silzer well. Many spoke about how they adored her character, and some were hopeful that it was Silzer's choice to leave. "You ARE Emma to us," one reply mentioned. "I'm hoping this was your choice."

General Hospital announced Emma's replacement with actress Braedyn Bruner on December 23 as well. Bruner is based in Texas and began acting at 5 years old by starring in commercials.

Did Silzer Get Replaced Or Chose To Leave General Hospital?

Silzer likely left on her own accord, but there's only a bit of evidence to support this claim. The young actress told Soap Opera Digest in 2023 that she planned to apply to nursing school. Focusing on her academic career wouldn't be a surprising reason for her exit from the show.

On the flip side, Silzer also told the outlet "maybe I can come visit General Hospital more often." This was concerning her speaking about staying local for college. It would make sense since Silzer hadn't been a season regular since 2016.

She started making guest appearances since then, although she began the show as a regular in 2011 at 5 years old. This hospital drama show has run for 62 seasons since 1963 and is the longest-running American soap opera. Actors come and go often, such as Kelly Monaco, Chad Duell, and Michael Easton who all left the show in 2024.
