The Mrs. Doubtfire actor, 70, visited Page Six to discuss his weight, and what has helped him shed 120 pounds. Quite happily, he admitted that "drugs" solved his problem, and revealed that it was a weight-loss drug called "Zepbound."
He's struggled with his weight all his life, going from one extreme to the other. "I've been skinny before, that's the sad part. I've been skinny, I've been fat, I've been skinny, I've been fat."
Fierstein also talks about the drug itself, saying, "What's different is what the drug actually does for you which is I don't feel like I'm dieting. I feel like a normal person. I can go and have dinner with friends and not have to eat every piece of bread on the table and then not go have ice cream when I've done with dinner."
He added, "I know what it is to be full like a normal person."
Given his unbelievable weight loss journey, he's quite qualified to talk about weight gain. Speaking on the subject, he said, "people don't understand that being fat is not a choice. It's something that you're body is out of whack and this puts your body in whack."
Fierstein Was 310 Pounds At His Heaviest
The star recalled that his recent weight gain problem occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He admitted to being 310 at his heaviest, which was the moment he knew he needed to take action. After losing 120 thanks to the Zepbound drug, he said that he gained 15 more, and "sort of stayed at that."
Recently, there have been a few notable celebrity milestones where weight is involved. Richard Karn, Home Improvement star, revealed his new look in November after shedding 30 pounds.
Country music star Jelly Roll has also lost over 100 pounds since beginning his journey and aspires to be on the cover of Men's Health in 2026.
Fierstein didn't disclose for how long he's been using Zepbound, although it's not likely that he's using them anymore. Now that he's at a stable weight and happy, it's not likely he'll have to use it again.
