Nicole Kidman has had an illustrious career, recently adding the International Star award to her cabinet from the Palm Springs International Film Festival. During her acceptance speech, Kidman spoke about losing her mother.
"I had good love growing up and I'm in that place now. I went home over Christmas and I've lost both my parents. So I'm in that place of going, 'Huh, okay, this is different now," she told the audience. She lost her father back in 2014, and now her mother has joined him.
But, her parents imbued her with the strength to take life as it came. "They've given me the resilience, they've given me the love, and they've given me the strength to keep moving forward." Kidman owes a lot of her success and unstoppable progress to her mother.
Nicole Kidman Dedicates Her Win to Her Late Mother
During her speech at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Kidman dedicated her award to her mother. "Thank you for giving me the chance to say, 'This is for my mom.' My whole career has been for my mom and my dad, who are not here now. I'm still going to keep working and giving to the world because I love what I do and I love you all, and I'm so grateful for the privilege to be a part of the film community."
She noted that she wasn't able to do this earlier, having lost her mother just four months earlier. She said she would have made her dedication at the Venice Film Festival, but it was too soon. She wasn't even able to accept her award there, with her mother's passing being so recent.
Nicole Kidman was understandably teary as she accepted her award for Babygirl, and spoke about her mother. However, the heartfelt dedication was well-earned, and hopefully helped her in her grieving process.
