A female prison guard was involved in a sex scandal with one of her inmates. Now, she is facing her trial. It looks like they now have something in common, as she will be spending a long time behind bars.

Female Prison Guard Involved In Sex Scandal
Lina De Sousa Abreu, is a 30-year-old wife and mother. The British prison guard was recorded having sex with an inmate in his cell. The recording, taken by a fellow inmate, was then uploaded to social media and went viral back in June. The involved inmate was in prison for "an $82,000 luxury goods heist in Kensington" according to the New York Post.
The video went viral, and the inmate who posted the video captioned it, "This is how we live at Wandsworth, bruv." Additionally, the act was captured by Abreu's body cam. While this was the first recording of the sex scandal, it was not the only time that Abreu and the inmate were involved. She admitted to having sex with criminal Linton Weirich multiple times. As well as performing oral sex for a separate inmate on the same day as the recording took place.
Sex Scandal Lands Female Prison Guard Time Behind Bars
Andrew Davy, the governor of Wandsworth, did not take this woman's actions lightly. When addressing her and the sex scandal that she partook in he claimed that she degraded her position. Additionally, he slammed her for putting her fellow female guards at risk. Since her sultry actions, other female guards at the prison have been "increasingly hit on by inmates who think they are fair game."
In addition to the governor, the judge of Abreu's case was no more amused by her choices. He shared the governor's sentiments when he stated, "You engaged in sexual activity with a prisoner. That compromised your role as an officer and was misconduct, which undermines discipline within the prison and puts fellow officers at increased risk."
Furthermore, the judge took it a step further by pointing out Abreu's lack of remorse for her participation in the sex scandal. "You participated with evident enthusiasm," he accused her. Additionally, prosecutors argued that Abreu was aware of the video being recorded and willingly took part in it. For her part in the sex scandal, this female prison guard will spend 15 months behind bars.
The court is using her sentencing not only as a repercussion for her actions, but as a warning to others. The judge stated, " As today's sentencing demonstrates, where officers do fall below our high standards, we won't hesitate to take robust action."
