Influencer Freaks Out Over Billy Joel, Calling His Music "Sinister"

Someone online shared their thoughts about the sinister tones of a Billy Joel song, and the rest of the internet didn't stand for it.

The user posted to X, saying, "I was in an Uber share today and a song came on that had the most sinister vibes ever and all three of us were sitting in dead silence I wish I could [remember] the song imma try to find it."

Many took to the comments initially to try and find sinister songs that the user could have been listening to.

However, the user soon found the song she listened to in the Uber. It was Billy Joel's chart-topper "Uptown Girl." Not any of Billy Joel's other creepier songs, but the universally loved cheery tune.

She reposted her original post, adding, "I found it ??????? I was scared as f--k the Uber was just gonna drive us off the road I do not like the energy this song brought into the car." She posted the song with the message.

The Internet Did Not Take This Statement Lightly

Many people instantly took to fighting the user calling the much-loved and upbeat song "sinister." It is very hard to find an angle that makes the song sinister, let alone a scenario where this song would dramatically change the atmosphere to have the user fearing for her life.

As we weren't there, all we can do is assume. It's possible that the Uber driver or a passenger was a dodgy sort to begin with, so a song about a man pursuing a woman would add to the unsettling car ride. But to fear the driver driving the car off the road thanks to "Uptown Girl" is just baffling.

Many took to the comments to insult her dramatically, which is excessive considering this is the harmless opinion of an internet stranger. There were some less harmful comments, however.

"The fact that "Uptown Girl" by Billy Joel was said song with alleged "sinister vibes," the kids are NOT alright LOL," one comented.

"Your generation is absolutely, completely and utterly embarrassing," wrote another.

"Girl you are so soft. Uptown girl didn't do anything wrong," says one more.

I don't personally get it, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
