Viral Footage Captures Roaches And Bugs Inside McDonald's But Is It Real?

Shocking footage of cockroaches and bugs infesting an Australian McDonald's has surfaced and gone viral. Newy 87.8 received images of roaches and maggots crawling around different corners of the store.

Bug Infestation Found In McDonald's Restaurant

One image shows a cockroach sitting in the french fry bin, while another is a photo of maggots crawling all over cleaning supplies. This health and safety violation comes from the McDonald's restaurant in Broadmeadow, Newcastle, NSW Australia.

Unfortunately, the bug infestation appears quite real. Newy 87.8 managed to examine the GPS metadata on the electronic device used to take the images. This proved its disturbing authenticity.

The news outlet even spoke with a customer who left behind his meal after watching the footage. "I couldn't be fu**ed going back in, I'm already late, and that video has ruined my dinner," he said.

There are many more roaches throughout the footage. You can see one hiding beside the restaurant seating and another on the tiled floor of the restaurant.

This case has raised further concerns on the "inadequate maintenance practices," at this location, as Newy put it. Some reports stated that workers were "forced to clear drainage blockages by hand while kneeling on flooded floors."

So not only are there cleanliness issues, but staff mistreatment as well. Newy wasn't able to get in contact with the McDonald's head office for a comment, so there's no telling yet what will happen with this location.

This hasn't been the only recent health debacle with McDonald's. In November, there was an E. Coli outbreak that left 34 people hospitalized from eating this restaurant's burgers. E. Coli is a serious health concern that can lead to death if not treated properly.

Not only that, but in 2024 someone caught a McDonald's worker drying a dirty mop in a fries warmer. This scandal from Queensland was allegedly an "isolated incident," according to the fast-food company. Still, all these stories are disturbing to hear if you're a McDonald's customer.

Hopefully, with how viral this nasty footage is, it may push McDonald's to take a serious look at its Australian location. Perhaps now something can be done about it so customers can feel safe eating at this McDonald's restaurant without worrying about bugs and roaches.
