The Girl Scouts decided that they wanted to break hearts in 2025. How you may ask? They are retiring two cookie flavors, and honestly, I am not okay with it. The good news, it is not Samoas. If it was Samoas I may have needed to contact someone because I would not be able to survive. The bad news, it is two other absolutely delicious flavors.

Girl Scouts Retiring Beloved Cookie Flavors In 2025

2025 has brought us Cybertruck explosions, violent crime, and NOW THIS! We need to turn this year around right now! Seattle Times shared that "The Girl Scouts of the USA on Tuesday revealed the S'mores cookie will be discontinued at the end of 2025."
We can all say it together now..."Noooooooooooo." However, I have to admit I am thankful for the warning. Nothing is worse than a surprise discontinuation. You are on your last box of your favorite treat, so you run to the store to resupply. Only to discover it no longer exists. Honestly, that is as annoying as when you are already having a bad day and then your coat gets stuck on the door handle on your way out the door.
That means that all of us S'mores cookie fans have an entire year to stock up on this delicious flavor until it ceases to exist. Afterward, I suppose we will have to resort to actual S'mores for our sweet cravings. This marks the first time in history that the Girl Scouts have announced their are retiring a cookie ahead of time.
Girl Scouts: Why Are They Retiring Flavors
While some people think the flavor is being discontinued due to lack of popularity (who doesn't like S'mores?) others believe it is a marketing ploy. Apparently, when they create this high demand for cookies, they can sell them for an increased value. Seattle Times shared that when they discontinued Raspberry Rally back in 2023 those cookies "sold online for as much as five times the usual price."
Perhaps this is just a way to increase sales and this beloved flavor will make a comeback — hey a girl can dream right? Furthermore, it is not just the S'mores flavor that the Girl Scouts are retiring this year. Additionally, they are saying goodbye to the Toast-Yay! flavor. That cookie was made to taste like tiny French toast treats. While that seems sad, I am not as invested in that flavor as the S'mores. However, for all French toast fans out there I feel your pain.
However, regardless of their reasoning behind discontinuing these flavors GSUSA chief officer, Wendy Lou, reminds everyone it isn't about the sales. She told Today, "Girl Scout Cookie season is about so much more than selling the iconic cookies people know and love." She continued, " The funds girls earn throughout the season directly power girls' journeys in leadership, entrepreneurship and community building."
So there you go, every time you are munching on some delicious cookies remember that not only did your dollars buy you a sweet treat, but they bought girls more opportunities at success. What a great cause to support, even if they are making the horrible decision to discontinue the S'mores flavor. Although I will count my blessings, at least it is not Samoas or Thin Mints.
