Same Moore passed on January 10. He was a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and a friend of Springsteen, so this loss has affected him personally. To send off his friend and superstar, he posted a passage on Instagram to share his thoughts.
On Instagram, he wrote, "Over on E Street, we are heartbroken to hear of the death of Sam Moore, one of America's greatest soul voices."
"There simply isn't another sound like Sam's soulful tenor in American music," he continued. "Having had the honor to work with Sam on several occasions, he was a sweet and funny man. He was full of stories of the halcyon days of soul music, and to the end had that edge of deep authenticity in his voice I could only wonder at."
"We offer our prayers to his wife Joyce and thanks to the immortal recordings Sam left us. God bless."
The tribute is well-said and heartwarming to those who are fans of both musicians.
Sam Moore and Bruce Springsteen collaborated on Springsteen's soul cover album, Only the Strong Survive. There, they worked together on a couple of tracks. Moore is on record for calling Springsteen one of his closest friends.
This loss must be devastating for Springsteen.
Internet Reacts To Bruce Springsteen's Tribute To Sam Moore
People somberly took to the comments of the Instagram post to add their thoughts and share their grief.
"Sam's work makes him immortal. It's a privilege to be alive during the time he created it," writes one, reflecting Springsteen's final words.
"May Sam's memory always be a blessing for his family, friends, colleagues, and many fans. RIP SAM," commented another. Going by Springsteen's words, it's apparent that Moore's memory will hold more joy than loss.
"Sam Moore once said that the hardest workin' man in show business was NOT James Brown, it was Bruce Springsteen," recalled another fan. This is just another example of that their friendship was as professional as it was personal.
His loss is recent, so it'll be a sore subject for fans for a small while. But soon, there will just be the positive memories of him to reflect on. And if you need a reminder, just throw on a track or two.
