Melania Trump has made a typically fashionable appearance at the inauguration of Donald Trump, sporting a very stylish hat that is more than just a fashion statement.

The wide-brimmed, low-sitting hat of Melania does wonders for keeping her expressions hidden. The last time Donald Trump had an inauguration, her telling scowls were used as memes for years. This year, she has chosen to wear a hat that will hide her telling face.

But, it appears that the hat is more than just a way to hide her distaste, it's also a defensive piece of clothing. The internet has blown up with reactions to her hat blocking a kiss from Trump. As he leans in to peck her cheek, the wide brim keeps him at bay.

His prying lips were unable to reach Melania due to her hat. She didn't seem to mind and was quite content with how well it worked.

Melania's Hat Set To Become The New Inauguration Meme

As footage started to leak across the internet of the failed attempt at a kiss, Melania's hat has become the hero of the hour. Many were already wondering why she had chosen to wear such a wide and low hat. But, as soon as the blocked kiss was shown, everything became clear.

"Knew it! Melania's extra large inauguration hat brim was meant to double as some sort of protective shield." one X user points out. Her clever use of the brim keeps unwanted pests from her lips. The footage shows a rather smug grin as Trump tries to plant one on her, too.

More comparisons of the appearance have been made for Melania and her hat. Personally, I think the hat is rather impressive, and does wonders for her face, but others see it slightly differently. A number of comparisons to fictional characters have been made, including the Hamburgler. I have to admit, the hat is almost identical.

Whether or not the hat Melania chose to wear to the inauguration was for defensive purposes or not still stands to be seen. If not, then at least she got an added bonus, if so, then that's some good thinking.
