Dolly Parton Reveals The Hilarious Place That She Hides Her Mic

When you perform as much as Dolly Parton does, everything has to be just right. The clothes, the stage production, the hair, the makeup, there's so much going into it that we don't fully understand. One of the biggest issues that plague the artist is having to grapple with the sound. When they perform, they need somewhere to keep the mic pack to ensure the audio comes out right through the venue speakers. But what happens when you're dancing around or your clothes are too tight like Dolly? Well, she certainly seems to have a workaround for anything.

Recently, Dolly spoke in an interview with CMT. There, she talks a little bit about her performance setup and how everything works to make everything seamless. Since the clothes are too tight to wear on her hip or in a pocket, she has a pretty ingenious way of working around it: her wigs. "I actually have... my wig cap has a little pocket on it in the back. Because my clothes are so tight, my mic pack don't fit nowhere," Parton says.

"There's only room for me in my clothes, and so I have it to where the mic fits in my hair because I wear wigs all the time. And so it goes right over it. We just kind of mic it around, and it works perfectly," Dolly adds.

Don't expect Parton to stop performing any time soon. In an interview with The Guardian, she addresses rumors that she would eventually slow down and stop doing live shows. Despite her age, she's still happily trucking along in her performances. The only thing that's changed is Dolly isn't going on expansive overseas tours like she used to do. "It's misinformation when I said I was not touring anymore. I still do shows. I just don't go on the full-blown tours where I go overseas for weeks. I'm older, my husband's older, and I want to be with him more. So, no. I couldn't retire if I wanted to. And I don't want to," she says.
