Peter Frampton Forgot He Collaborated On One Ringo Starr Classic Song

Ringo Starr, who is now 84, was a member of one of the most legendary musical groups ever. The former Beatle also had a successful solo career. One hallmark of Ringo's is that he often brought in other famous artists to work with him. Per Showbiz Cheat Sheet, he often liked to team up with his pals in the music industry. A song by Bernie Taupin and Elton John, "Snookeroo," was penned for him. Ringo's friend and ex Beatle, the late George Harrison, joined creative forces with him to craft the hit song, "Photograph." So he has a long history of effective collaborations. One of them was with guitarist Peter Frampton, now 74. Only thing is, Frampton claims he doesn't quite remember it!

Peter Frampton's Memory Of The Song Was Hazy

Some musicians, like Peter Frampton, may have kind of hazy recollections of the frolicking, rollicking 1970s for various reasons. The song, "A Dose Of Rock 'n' Roll" is one that Frampton played guitar on. Released in 1976, it appears on the album, Ringo's Rotogravure. Speaking to Guitar World in 2013 via Showbiz Cheat Sheet, Frampton candidly acknowledged that he was kind of foggy about the particulars of his involvement with the tune. "I can't remember [laughs]. It was the '70s, and I know I was sober for the session, but I'm not sure about right after."

Frampton added, "I'd have to listen to it again and see. People keep coming up to me, saying, 'Is this you on this?' And I have to go listen to it to find out. I did more sessions than I remember doing. There were a lot of things in the '70s that I played on that people keep reminding me about."

When Frampton Listened To The Tune, He Did Recall It A Bit Better

Frampton did gradually remember the song and his role in it. "Yeah, the first part is me. I forgot all about that! That's me. And then, I forget who it is that comes in there, but that sounds like I'm playing my Gibson and then a Telecaster or a Strat comes in."

"A Dose Of Rock 'n' Roll" was not a blockbuster hit for Ringo Starr. Even so, as the outlet noted, "it's cool to hear two rock legends collaborate."
