An Illinois mayor has been arrested for contempt of court after repeated delays to sign off on new liquor licenses. It turns out that's not the only thing she's in trouble for, either.

The proprietors of St. Patrick's, a three-story food and drink venue in Dalton, Illinois had been applying for a liquor license for the longest time. However, Tiffany Henyard, the mayor of the area, kept dragging her feet.
Now, they are suing, claiming that she is being negligent. She was ordered to sign the liquor licenses before a 5 pm deadline and failed yet again to get them done. Because of this, all parties were required to return to court the next day. Tiffany Henyard showed up half an hour late.
As a result, she was held in contempt of court over the tardy signing of the liquor licenses. She had repeatedly caused problems with the basic process, so St Patrick's is looking to sue.
"It's been a challenge, to put it mildly. It shouldn't be so difficult. This is an ordinary event to get liquor licenses issued," their attorney told WMAQ-TV. Understandably, the owners of the venue are frustrated. Even after being held in contempt of court, the mayor only signed two of their three liquor licenses.
"We want her to be fined. We want her to pay attorney fees, and we want damages. She has hurt my client," their attorney lamented. "We are wasting money every day... taxpayers' money. This is a nice building that people could be using not to mention the jobs."
Liquor Licenses Are Just The Tip Of The Mayor Crime Iceberg
The lazy and blase way the mayor has treated the signing of the liquor licenses is reflected in the rest of her work too. Being held in contempt of court is just one of many things she is being investigated for. She is currently being investigated by former Chicago Mayor, Lori Lightfoot. The results of the investigation are due to be released soon.
Tiffany Henyard is suspected of misusing taxpayer dollars, overspending on the village credit card, and even firing an employee who claimed to have been sexually assaulted by a village trustee while in Las Vegas. It isn't looking good for the mayor.
It looks like the tardy liquor licenses are the least of her problems.
