Cyndi Lauper's son was apparently in hot water already - and now he seems to be in more. Per the New York Post, rapper Declyn "Dex" Lauper Thornton "filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection." According to the outlet, Lauper Thornton "is accused of pressuring [an] unidentified woman to [perform a sex act] at his SoHo home on Nov. 9, 2020." The woman reportedly filed a civil lawsuit against him last spring.

Mark Shirian, the woman's attorney, said, "We were supposed to try to get [the civil suit] resolved on Monday at 3 p.m. We were litigating this [case], and all of a sudden, they file for bankruptcy, mere days before we're supposed to discuss a resolution. I'm sure with this bankruptcy, the case will be stayed. Now, I don't know if [the mediation's] even going to move forward or not."
The Woman Accusing Declyn 'Dex' Lauper Thornton Was Reportedly Dating Him At The Time Of The Alleged Incident
The two were reportedly acquainted with each other. The Post noted, "The victim, 29, said she'd been dating Lauper Thornton, 27, whose father is 'Law & Order' TV actor David Thornton, on and off for roughly nine months starting in February 2020, according to filings."
The woman claims that during a disagreement, he pushed down on her head and neck hard enough so that she heard a popping noise. It is unclear if she sustained any physical injuries.
The Young Rapper Has Been Involved In Numerous Scrapes
In the past, Lauper Thornton has been arrested for gun possession and theft. He was also facing possible eviction from his posh, $7,200-a-month Financial District digs. However, Lauper Thornton moved out in the fall of 2024.
He got arrested in July 2022 when "he allegedly double-parked a stolen Mercedes," per the Post. Lauper Thornton did not get jail time because he took a plea deal.
