Super Bowl Makes Major Change And Fans Hate It

While many enjoy watching the game, sometimes the littlest of changes can make an entire audience turn against you in a heartbeat. That's exactly what happened during the Super Bowl game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. What change exactly? Well, the score bug design, of course, and it was a very big deal for many.

The score bug design featured by Fox Sports was slightly tweaked for Super Bowl LIX. The graphic that displays the teams, the score, and other football game information was translucent. Both of the teams' names, "KC" for the Chiefs and "PHI" for the Eagles, were designed in a very minimalistic way, colored red and green, respectively.

Immediately, many viewers were eager to express their strong opinions against the score bug design, roasting Fox for the sudden change.

"After giving Tom Brady $375 million, Fox only had $25 left to spend on a scorebug design," one user wrote. "Insane they would drop this scorebug on us in the Super Bowl. Nasty work," another user wrote. A third one said: "The 90's called and demand their graphics back." A fourth one said that he "might have to boycott the NFL over the scorebug."

While a minority, some Super Bowl viewers embraced the changes. They pointed out that the design helped them focus on the game and even read the score with ease.

"I love it. I can actually see the score!" one user wrote. "It's just like it should be. Simple and not distracting from the game," another user wrote. A third one said: "Am I the only person who didn't know that was called a bug?" And to this last user's credit, I didn't know what it was called either, so that's that.

Halftime Show Performance

While viewers were not particularly fond of the score bug design, many were delighted after seeing Kendrick Lamar perform during the halftime show. Although some were critical of his performance, favoring local artist Lil Wayne, others were quick to join Lamar during his set. "Not Like Us" was a particularly well-received tune.

The diss track aimed toward Drake had the likes of Serena Williams joining Lamar, crip walking during the latter's performance. Who knows? Perhaps the lack of the score bug made viewers enjoy the show even further.
