Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks Had One Major Regret About David Bowie

At the height of their fame, Fleetwood Mac was a colossus cranking out one hit after another, and one fantastic album after another. The woman at the center of the band's success was Stevie Nicks. With her long blonde tresses swirling and her husky voice, she was captivating on stage and on records. She possessed an undeniable mystique that fans adored. Nicks reportedly had one regret about not artistically partnering with another leading performer of the time - the brilliant, chameleon-like David Bowie.

Surprisingly, their paths did not cross. Per Far Out Magazine, "You know what, I don't even know that I ever met David Bowie," the singer told Dazed in 2020.

Nicks added, "Had I ever met him, I probably would have said the first thing I usually say whenever I meet somebody who is one of my heroes: 'Maybe we could get together and work on a song or something?' That's usually my first line, because that's all I really want from all these people - to be in their presence and study what they do."

Being with Bowie would have been a master class for Stevie Nicks. It's sad that it never took place.

What Stevie Nicks Thought Of David Bowie

The man known as Ziggy Stardust early in his career captured Nicks's whole-hearted admiration. Per the outlet, she said, "I loved a lot of his songs. A great singer-songwriter. He was also a performance artist. He had a lot of talent and in a lot of different ways. He was a special guy. Really special. I am sorry because you look back on your life and think, 'Why didn't I get on an aeroplane and go see David Bowie? Why didn't I get on an aeroplane and go see a lot of people that I'll never get to meet now?'"

David Bowie died in 2016 at age 69 of liver cancer. Like many other talented singers, he left us way too soon. There is no telling what he might have done had his life been longer. And had he teamed with Stevie Nicks. We will never know, but it's intriguing to imagine what could have come of it.
