Jon Stewart Injures His Hand During On-Air Rant, Immediately Makes a Joke

You know an argument is getting real when things start getting physical. Balled-up fists, punching walls, breaking things, it can get heated really quickly. For Jon Stewart, his monologues can get especially fiery. He cares deeply about his points and tries to use jokes to make levity of what deeply bothers him. However, sometimes, the cool, sarcastic demeanor cracks and he gets deathly serious, even angry. The latest instance of this leaves Jon a bloody mess.

Recently, Stewart went on one of his typical monologues for The Daily Show. This time, he rants about the absurd prices of prescription drugs in America. He starts with a clip of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris where they agree to negotiate lowering the prices. Jon is less than satisfied with this result though.

"But you know what's so horrible about our system now? And the corruption that lays within it?" Jon asks. "We're so f---ing numb to it, we actually tout tiny cracks in that exploitation as a victory."

"Ooh, can it be? The companies we subsidize with billions of dollars are allowing us the privilege of negotiating the price of 10 of their drugs," Stewart continues. "And 10 is all of them, right? It would be embarrassing if it was a small drop in the bucket and that the American people didn't expect that we should negotiate for all their f---ing drugs! Because we've already paid for 'em with our subsidies!"

Then, the heat climaxes and Jon gets absolutely fed up. He proceeds to slam his coffee mug and it dramatically explodes as he seethes in anger. The crowd is thrown off guard but cheer at the passion he's expressing. Stewart glances down at his hand and smirks, trying to contain the hilarity of it all. "I'll be going to the hospital soon," he grins.

Jon completes the rest of the show without a beat, grasping at his hand underneath the desk. Skip to about the 17-minute mark if you want to see the absurd clip.
