'1923' Star Julia Schlaepfer Reveals Co-Star Would Wear Their Clothes For Weeks On End

1923 star Julia Schlaepfer has exposed a co-star's grim habit of wearing the same clothes for weeks on end. I know they didn't have washing machines in 1923, but come on.

Full disclaimer, they technically did have washing machines back then, but not the common-place domestic ones like we have today. The insult still stands.

I digress, Schlaepfer, who plays Alexandria, Spencer Dutton's wife, has dug up the dirt on a co-star, literally. In an interview with PEOPLE, she's said that her on-screen husband Brandon Sklenar has some pretty low standards when it comes to clean clothes.

As though a stereotypical husband and wife, Schlaepfer has been nagging Sklenar on the hygiene of his clothing.

"He just will throw on the same pair of clothes after two weeks and just call it good," she told them. "And I'm like, you have to do laundry sometimes. You have to wash your clothes."

Apparently, considering how "dirty" and "gross" it was filming the first season in Africa, Sklenar "doesn't care."

"And I'm like, Brandon, pull it together."

Despite Sklenar's lack of hygiene, Schlaepfer has admitted that it's been jarring to film season 2 without him.

Julia Schlaepfer Said That It's "Jarring" Filming Without Him

The second season of 1923 aired on February 23, with Alexandria and Spencer separated. Alexandria is heartbroken over their separation, and it seems the actress was a little distraught over it, too.

"Brandon and I were kind of partners in crime as humans season 1, and we had each other to rely on. So to have that kind of taken from you ... It was very isolating and kind of jarring," Schlaepfer said.

However, it "worked for the acting performance."

"Because that's what Alex is going through," she said. "It was the total opposite experience of season 1, but really, really fun to film in a different way."

Sklenar himself also admitted it was strange to film without Schlaepfer.

"It was a trip," he said. "It was her and I every day for season 1 for five, almost six months."

He said how interesting it was, however, to play the version of Spencer without Alexandria. "The way he is with Alex is a very specific version of himself, and getting to explore other parts of him through these other characters that come in and out was a lot of fun."
