Bob Dylan Shocks Fans By Posting Machine Gun Kelly Rap Video On Social Media

It's sometimes hard to imagine old folks listening to new music, but apparently Bob Dylan is still down with the kids as he posts a Machine Gun Kelly track to his social media. I can't even imagine Bob Dylan using social media, honestly.

To be recognised, and even praised, by a legend in the game like Bob Dylan is affirming for any artist. I'm not saying that Machine Gun Kelly hasn't earned his stripes, but he's not on Dylan's level. Few are.

So, when MGK noticed that the "Blowin' In The Wind" singer had posted an old video of him online, he was humbled. As soon as he realized what happened, MGK took to social media to speak about it.

"I'm in my conversation pit in my house having a whole discussion about, 'Am I doing the right thing? Is this the right direction for this album? I'm questioning it," he said on a live video. "And in the same breath that I'm questioning it, someone goes, 'Bob Dylan just posted a video of you.' And I'm like, 'There must be another Bob Dylan. Whatever."

Bob Dylan Served As A Sign For Machine Gun Kelly

The video Bob Dylan shared was an old one of Machine Gun Kelly rapping in a small record shop. It's an intimate gig and goes back to the musician's roots. For him, it was a sign to get back on his feet and lock in for his next album.

"We got to his Instagram, he did post a video. I'm like...Just the originator of doing everything opposite of what people wanted him to do, randomly posting a video of me back in the day rapping in a vinyl shop. I'm just like, 'What the f---?" Machine Gun Kelly has taken it as divine intervention, pushing him forward to his goals.

"Just trust the signs, man. That was so cool. I'm so grateful. So random," MGK concluded. It's a small gesture, really, of one musician recognising another, but it meant a lot. Even for someone as widely known as MGK, there are still many people he will idolize. It doesn't matter who you are or what genre you play, Bob Dylan is still an icon.
