Actor on 'The Office' Reveals That The Cast Still Participate in a Fantasy Football League 19 Years Later

The bond everyone still has on The Office is so incredibly admirable. It's so easy to lose contact with people you come to love if you aren't constantly around them. A lot of times, these relationships become extremely passive, if not fizzled out completely. No one does anything wrong, life just leads people in different directions. But not for The Office cast. Shockingly, they remain active in each others' lives to this day. Brian Baumgartner, who plays Kevin in the show, says that the easiest way for them to stay connected is through fantasy football.

Recently, Baumgartner appeared on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast. It goes without saying that the pair talked about the smash tv show. However, they notably talk about something that bonded the cast and crew early on: fantasy football. Brian recalls The Office cast starting their fantasy league when the show itself really found its groove in the second season back in 2004.

Baumgartner says they would oftentimes have to find ways during shooting to pull off their fantasy drafts. It used to take us like a week to ten days to draft. Untraditional. We had, because we were on the set of The Office, a yellow legal pad that flips up with the pages, and that would be passed from desk to desk. I've never gone back to some of those early seasons to see if I could ever see that on somebody's desk," Brian recalls. So we'd pass it around and maybe you would literally be shooting a scene at that moment, or it was lunch, or it was your turn but you got to go home early that day. So it would take us like a week to 10 days to draft."

Nowadays, The Office crew continue their streak of fantasy football league seasons. Baumgartner takes a slight moment to brag before admitting that he's never won the big one out of the crew. "People take it very seriously. There are a lot of texts. We have the Zoom call happening at the same time as the draft is happening so we can kind of talk sh*t with each other," Brian reveals. "I will tell you this... I have been to the quote-unquote 'Super Bowl' of our fantasy league more than anyone else... I've never won. It's hard to talk about."
