Jordan Davis has another hit at radio with "I Ain't Sayin'." The song, from a forthcoming album, was by Davis' admission a struggle for him to release. A fan of the melody and the lyrics, Davis almost passed on it, since he didn't write it. The song instead was written by Travis Wood, Steve Moakler, Mark Holman, and Emily Reid, marking the first time Davis released a single that he didn't write himself.

"It's tough to put a song out you didn't write, especially me, who writes all my own hits," Davis admits to American Songwriter. "I pride myself in that. I was proud for setting my songwriting ego aside."
Davis was trying to write a song that was reminiscent of some of his early, feel-good hits, going back to his debut 2017 hit, "Singles You Up." Ultimately, the Louisiana native realized he was trying too hard to create something that had already been written.
"It was, 'I need to quit trying to write that song and realize that I have it right here."
Jordan Davis' New Album
Davis' last album, Bluebird Days, was released in early 2023. The father of three -- with one on the way -- also released "In Case You Missed It" from his next record, a song he helped write. Although Davis has yet to reveal a title or release date, he does hint that the project will be a nod to some of his biggest musical influences, including The Allman Brothers, Jim Croce and more.
"Obviously, songwriting is something that all of those influences were incredible at," Davis explains. "But where was the musical side of those influences showing up? I really kind of wanted to hone in on that on this album. I really think we did that. I'm really proud of how it all came together."
Davis might have taken a few risks on his next record, but he is still eager for his fans to hear the new project.
"I'm proud of the songs that we've put together," Davis reveals on Audacy's Superstar Power Hour. "I'm proud of some of the risks we took on some of these songs. ... Now we'll put it out and see how it goes."
