Fire Breaks Out In The Middle Of Journey Concert, Causing Abrupt Evacuation

It seems like nature was trying to tell Journey, current frontman Arnel Pineda, and the rest of their fans to 'stop believin'' for once. Recently, the legendary rock band were performing at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in NRG Stadium. There, they were performing "Don't Stop Believin'," the 5th song in their setlist and under an hour into the event.

Pineda sings "For a smile they can share the night it goes...," before the speakers dramatically turn off and the projector screens go out. Initially, you might think Journey are going above and beyond in their theatrics for the audience. Maybe the crowd finishes the line while everything is dark and they come back in for the pre-chorus. The fans certainly thought this was the case and followed along at the time. However, their voices awkwardly trail off when there was nothing else afterwards. They don't know that an emergency was happening behind the scenes.

An Electrical Fire Causes Journey Show to be Cancelled

Crew members immediately rush to the stage with fire extinguishers. Reports inform us that an electrical fire broke out in the middle of the concert causing them to shut the Journey show down early. Everyone evacuates the stadium shortly afterwards. Thankfully, there were no injuries due to the fire or in the process of leaving.

RodeoHouston offers a formal

apology to everyone who attended the festivities that evening. They're currently working through potential refunds and rescheduling and feel for any of the fans' disappointment. "Due to an unforeseen electrical incident under the stage area, we regretfully announce the cancellation of tonight's Journey concert," the statement reads. "We sincerely apologize to all fans for this disappointment. Our team is working diligently to assess the situation, and we will provide updates regarding rescheduling options and or refunds as soon as possible."
