Rock Star Cancels Tour Dates Due To "Serious Infection"
The singer's team announced Mason's health issue on social media. In an Instagram post, the message revealed that despite the successful heart-valve-replacement operation, Mason is back in the hospital. "We want to share that Dave has been hospitalized due to a serious infection that developed quickly," it wrote.
"The entire Dave Mason family, band, and crew deeply appreciate your love and prayers during this time," the message continued. It also said that customers can refund their tickets for the months of March, April, and May. The post ended by saying, "We're all hoping for a swift recovery!"
According to American Songwriter, Mason was set to launch his 2025 tour on March 20 in Augusta, Georgia. The singer-songwriter's team has officially canceled his 21 US dates leading up to his May 18 Nashville concert.
So far, if Mason recovers from this health scare, he will be able to be back on tour this summer. His summer tour kicks off on July 11 in Kansas City, Missouri and ends on August 18 in Salisbury, Massachusetts.
This unfortunate news also comes just three days after Mason announced his latest studio album A Shade of Blues. It is scheduled to release this Friday, March 21, on streaming, and even on a beautiful blue vinyl record.
Worcester-born Mason first rose to fame in the rock band Traffic. He eventually played and recorded with a myriad of notable musicians like George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix, Paul McCartney, and more. He's best known for Traffic's 1968 song Feelin' Alright and 1967's Hole in My Shoe.
Although he was one of the founding members of the band, he had left and rejoined the band a few times. He eventually called it quits to become a solo singer in the 70s.
