Harrison Ford Reveals Which Role He Wishes He Took

It's hard to have many regrets when you have such an illustrious career like Harrison Ford. He's prominently featured in two of the biggest movie franchises of all time with Star Wars and Indiana Jones. This doesn't even account for some of his other stellar roles in his loaded filmography. His two Blade Runner films exist as quintessential bastions of sci-fi.

He plays smaller characters in two of the greatest movies of all time, Apocalypse Now and The Conversation. Additionally, The Fugitive exists as one of the more underrated action flicks you could watch. However, Ford does have at least one film in mind he wishes he took on in his career.

Back in 2006, Harrison spoke with The Irish Examiner, where he reveals the one regret he holds in his career. "I saw a bit of Steve Gaghan's movie Syriana and I wish I'd played the part that was offered to me - George [Clooney's] part," Ford shares. "I didn't feel strongly enough about the truth of the material, and I think I made a mistake."

Harrison Ford Laments Not Joining the 2005 Film Syriana

He does add that initially, the film's final iteration wasn't evident upon the original offer to join the cast. Harrison commends director Steve Gaghan and the crew for implementing changes that led to a much better movie in the end. "I think the film underwent some changes, and I think a lot of it is very truthful," Ford says. "The things that I thought weren't were obviated after I left the table."

Harrison's lamentations aren't particularly hard to understand here. George Clooney ends up bringing home some gold for his lead performance in Syriana. Most notably, he lands an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for his work. Additionally, Ford would've been cast alongside Matt Damon, Jeffrey Wright and William Hurt, a star-studded cast. I'm sure not having that hardware might keep him up at night. But I would sleep happy knowing I have two Francis Ford Coppola classics on my resume.
