Ringo Starr has been one of the most beloved and recognizable people in rock and roll for decades. First he gained fame as the Beatles' drummer. After they split up in 1970, he launched a solo career. There is truly no one like him in the music industry. Right now, at age 84, Ringo (his name a actually Sir Richard Starkey) has lots of irons in the fire. Per People, he plans to tour, has dropped a new album, and has a concert special that is streaming. With such a hectic schedule, no wonder his kids don't buy it anytime when Dad says he intends to retire.

In fact, Ringo shared with the outlet that "Sometimes when I finish a tour, I'm like, 'That's the end for me.' And all my children say, 'Oh, Dad, you've told us that for the last 10 years.' And they get fed up with me. I do feel, 'Oh, that's got to be enough,' and then I get a phone call: 'We've got a few gigs if you're interested.' Okay, we're off again!"
Ringo Starr Has A Jam-Packed Upcoming Schedule
Ringo has plans for the next few months that would make anyone's head spin. In three months, he and his All-Starr band will launch a tour that has 10 dates. Then in September, they will have a six-concert residency at the Venetian Theatre in Las Vegas.
He reflected thoughtfully on times gone by. "In those days, I had a phone book, so I found guys who were musicians and I'd call them. We opened in Texas in a field and it was great. And we've been doing it ever since because I love to play live. I love the audience, I know they love me and we have a great time."
His Country Album Is Doing Great
Ringo's album, Look Up, is his sophomore foray into country music (the first was Beaucoups of Blues 55 years ago). The album is in the Billboard Top 10 in this country, and has the coveted top spot in the United Kingdom. Good for him!
Ringo humbly commented on its success. Producer T. Bone Burnett had a role in it. "It sort of took its own way. We can make the right turns sometimes, It's working out really well. I've been surprised a lot lately."
