Wallen was first booked on the show in the fall of 2020. His appearance was subsequently canceled at the time, when a video surfaced of him not following COVID-19 protocols. When Wallen later made his SNL debut, he was able to poke fun at himself and the choices he made.
"I am you from the future, and I came here to stop you from partying tonight," Jason Bateman said in a skit with Wallen, when Bateman was playing Wallen's future self (via People). "Trust me somebody's gonna post a video of you ignoring COVID protocols, the whole internet's gonna freak out ... Once people hear about the party, you're in big trouble man. You're gonna get kicked off Saturday Night Live."
Wallen later apologized for his actions.
"I'm not positive for COVID, but my actions this past weekend were pretty short-sighted and that has obviously affected my long-term goals and my dreams," he said at the time in a video posted on social media. "I respect the show's decision because I know that I put them in jeopardy. I take ownership for this. I'd like to apologize to SNL, to my fans, to my team, for bringing me these opportunities and I let them down."'
Morgan Wallen's Next Album
Wallen has yet to speak out about his SNL appearance, or reveal what he will perform. But it's likely he will perform something from his next album, which he reveals is now completed.
"Album is officially done. More news for y'all next week, but here's a clip of one that's coming out soon - "Just In Case," Wallen writes.

He does reveal that the record is called I'm the Problem. The album name is also the name of his upcoming massive tour, which features Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett and Koe Wetzel and more.
"This tour is named after my new album that I am still working on - I'm The Problem," Wallen
shares on social media. "Excited to tell y'all more about it soon."
