'Opry 100' Viewers Blast Garth Brooks For Trying And Failing To Imitate George Jones During Duet With Trisha Yearwood

The singer, currently going through a sexual assault trial, stepped up to the stage to share who he thinks is the greatest country singer going. It turns out, Garth Brooks believes George Jones to be the greatest country musician, and he performed a few of his songs.

One of which was a duet, which he sang alongside his wife Trisha Yearwood. However, his performances of the George Jones classics were not received favorably. Although you'll find some praise online, during his performance, X was swarming with harsh opinions.

The singer specifically thought that "He Stopped Loving Her Today" is the greatest country song, although he performed others, too. With his wife, he sang "Your Good Girl's Gonna Go Bad" and then "Golden Ring."

The worst part of his performances is that it felt like he tried to impersonate George Jones. With impersonations, especially when singing, if you don't nail down the impression, it's gonna come across as cringy, off, and simply bad.

Although opinions were mixed on his ability to impersonate George Jones, most thought he missed the mark.

Internet Reacts To Garth Brooks' Awful Opry Performances

Many people took to social media to share their thoughts over Garth Brooks' Opry performances. And many of these thoughts aren't positive ones.

"Wish Garth would have just sang the song instead of trying to impersonate George," shared one, which is a sentiment many others felt.

"He had too much to drink," thought one.

"This is a horrible rendition of this song," insulted one more.

Despite the hate, many believed Trisha Yearwood did a brilliant job.

"Trisha killed it. Garth butchered it," another scathed.

"Trisha is singing circles around this bum Garth," commented another.

In all fairness, some did pay Brooks some compliments.

"Got dang, Garth Brooks nailed all those little inflections George Jones did!" exclaimed a supporter.

"Beautiful tribute to the possum," praised one more.

So yeah, not the most praised performances in country history, which is kinda ironic given the event at which they were held.
