Throughout his career as a Hollywood heartthrob, Val Kilmer had a string of high-profile and beautiful relationships. He was married once, to Joanne Whalley, from 1988 until 1996. They had two children but got divorced only two weeks after his son was born.

The divorce was apparently incredibly expensive and was the last time Val Kilmer would be married. In his memoir, titled I'm Your Huckleberry, he spoke of his past flings. However, the last 20 years or so of his life left Val Kilmer feeling the effects of loneliness.

"'I haven't had a girlfriend in 20 years. The truth is I am lonely part of every day," he admitted. "I've always found women infinitely more interesting than men. Perhaps that's why we've always gotten along. We are big, oafy elephants...and they are butterflies."

Despite his love for women and long history of happy partners, he often felt alone.

Val Kilmer's Short But Sweet Romances

Throughout his life, Kilmer dated many beautiful, successful women. One of the more prolific ones was his time with Cher. Despite their large age gap, they shared a two-year relationship. She was 36 at the time, and he was only 23. They split, citing that the age gap was too much of an issue, but they remained friends.

Despite Val Kilmer feeling periods of loneliness during his later years, he had family and friends rally around him when he was suffering from throat cancer in 2014. Cher was among them. She recently posted a heartfelt message on his passing to her social media.

"U Were funny, crazy, pain in the ass, GREAT FRIEND, kids [love] U. BRILLIANT as Mark Twain, BRAVE here during ur sickness." She referred to her time with him as a lover and the time she spent with him at his sick bed.

Throughout his life, Val Kilmer felt heartbreak after some of his relationships came to a close. None, though, quite as much as with Daryl Hannah. He spoke on his feelings for her after their relationship, saying "I am still in love with Daryl. When we finally broke up, I cried every single day for half a year."

Its always sad to see someone feeling lonely towards their later years. Take it as a reminder to go pay your elderly relatives a visit.
