Woman Claims She Learned How To Drive Playing 'Mario Kart,' Causes Pileup

There are certainly games that could help a person learn to drive. Some are great at training reaction times, while others could help with hand-eye coordination. But I would never recommend Mario Kart as the place to go for road safety pointers.

A woman who has recently been involved in a three-car pileup is being mercilessly mocked for boasting of how she learned to drive from the popular video game Mario Kart. Thankfully, nobody was seriously hurt.

The footage of the incident shows that the woman has rear-ended the person in front of her. This, in turn, hit the car in front of that. In her defense, that was a very Mario Kart way of driving. Ramming and bumping are all part of the game. Hopefully, she didn't start throwing turtle shells out her window.

Mario Kart Driving Instructor Seems About Right

The woman, who had been driving through Mexico City at the time of her crash, has been mocked for her Mario Kart car sticker. The internet has seen the funny side. The accuracy of her driving skills compared to that of the game is actually remarkable.

"That sticker should be sufficient defense for having any charges or fines dropped," one commenter adds. As a disclaimer, it's a fair one. She has let people know she's driving like a menace, and comparatively too.

Another added, "Forewarned is forearmed. She told everyone, so the guilty parties are those who didn't get out of her way." I would certainly give someone with a Mario Kart driving certification a wide berth, too. It's hardly the best way to learn. You spend half your time in the air or sideways in Mario Kart.

I expect she will face charges for her bad driving. But, as another commenter pointed out, she has an excuse. "Cop: "Why did you crash, miss? Lady: Didn't you see my sign, officer?"

Of course, jokes can be made because nobody was hurt in the crash. By the looks of the video, there are a few dented fenders and probably some bodywork to fix, but nothing serious. Maybe as a result, she will get her lessons somewhere more reputable.
