"When I heard 'Stay Country or Die Tryin,'' it took me back to the first time I heard 'Ol' Red' or 'God's Country,'" Shelton says. "It's got so much energy and is full of those little catchphrases and things we say out in the country. I absolutely fell in love with it. I'm proud of this recording - and I love singing it live even more. Hopefully, you'll come catch a show and sing it with us."
The song says in part, "In God, we trust ... Till the day that I'm dust / I'ma stay country or die tryin'."
Blake Shelton's "Let Him In Anyway"
Shelton currently has a Top 10 hit with "Texas," the first single from For Recreational Use Only. He recently released "Let Him In Anyway," an emotional song that is also on his next record.
"'Let Him In Anyway' is one of the more powerful lyrics and just overall pieces of music that I've ever gotten a chance to work on," Shelton says of the song. "I heard the song; Hardy is actually a co-writer on the song. He's a friend of mine, and I just never heard a song quite like it. I don't think this song's ever been written before, anything like it. Whenever I heard it, and got a chance to record it, I was honored, and I'm really proud of the record that we made on it."
Shelton also has another song, "Hangin' On," on his new album, a duet with Gwen Stefani. The record is Shelton's first on BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. He did once again teams up with his longtime producer, Scott Hendricks.
"It's been a long time since we had a new album out, and I want to thank the songwriters and musicians who helped bring this record to life," Shelton says of his new record. "Scott and I have been working on this music for years, and I'm beyond excited to finally share it with the fans."
His current single, "Texas," also from For Recreational Use Only, is in the Top 10.
