The tour, which began in March, includes JJ Grey & Mofro, Bachman-Turner Overdrive and Jefferson Starship.
"Taking care of business as I always do," Gray says. "Thanks and see you soon."
Gray makes it clear that the Marshall Tucker Band will continue on without him on stage.
"The band can't wait to jam with JJ Grey & Mofro, Bachman-Turner Overdrive and Jefferson Starship," adds Gray. "It'll be a jam you'll never forget!"
Fortunately, while Gray may not be able to tour for a while, the 76-year-old is still going to be involved in other aspects of the tour.
"Everyone knows I'm not one to sit on my hands," Gray maintains. "I'll be making sure all of the stars are aligned. Let's rock!"
Hopefully, Gray will be back on the road soon. He was especially looking forward to their current tour, because of the diverse lineup.
"With so many dates on the books for this year, and many more to be added, we couldn't be more excited to be back out on the road seeing 'All Our Friends' from over the years," Gray said when the tour was announced.
The Influence of The Marshall Tucker Band
The Marshall Tucker Band released their self-titled debut album in 1973. Arguably one of the most influential Southern Rock bands of all time, they are still influencing artists more than five decades later, including Riley Green, who grew up listening to the iconic group.
"My dad loved The Band, still one of my favorite groups. Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Marshall Tucker Band," continued Green. "My grandaddy, Bufford, that was really where my big music passion came from. Like Roy Acuff, Merle Haggard, and George Jones. So I listened to a lot of different music."
Ironically, the Marshall Tucker Band wasn't named after a person in the group. Instead, the name belongs to a piano tuner, whose name they discovered while in a rehearsal space, while trying to come up with a name for their group.
