Here at Wide Open Country, we love reporting the truth in country music. We want to promote good country music, not just what's popular. And there are five female artists in the industry, I think are brilliant and need so much more attention.

Now, this isn't a definitive list of the best indie female country artists. The following five singers are incredibly talented, but don't have the following to reflect that. Please note that this is my personal opinion, and that I simply can't cover everyone in this one list alone.
You will likely find these artists in our playlist that hosts the best new country songs of each week. This is because I enjoy their music, so I try to cover them where and when I can.
So, get your preferred streaming platform ready, as you'll be saving these artists to your playlists in no time.
Maddie Riccardo
Maddie Riccardo is an outlandishly small artist. Granted, she's pretty new to the scene and only has five songs out now, but she's got the goods.
Her recent release "Barstool" is a great place to start. It's my favorite of hers, and I'm sure there are more tunes like this to come before long.
Onoleigh
Onoleigh has been around for a few years. With a handful of dynamic singles and an EP, Onoleigh showcases that she can bring rock and roll to a variety of moods.
All of her tracks have an addictive injection of rock that never feels out of place. I can listen to her entire discography over and over again. Her "First Rodeo" EP is where I'd begin.
Leslie Jordan
Leslie Jordan is one of the few artists I can say have stunned me with one of their songs. She's only just released her first record, a powerful concept album inspired by the poems and writings of her estranged deceased grandfather.
Knowing her story, "Elegy" was a haunting and beautiful listen. The Agonist is a brilliant collection of her abilities. Although any of her four EPs will do, honestly.
KC Johns
KC Johns knows how to throw it down. Having grown up in the rodeo, her high-energy tracks are a product of her environment growing up.
Very capable of slowing the pace and delivering a heartfelt hit, I think she shines when tearing the roof down. Her hit "Rodeo Queen" is a great example of this.
Laura Bryna
Laura Bryna is a multi-talented singer-songwriter that's been here for a while. Whether she's delivering rebellious rock n' roll hits or gently crooning away, she can do it all.
To see what I mean, listen to a recent hit, "Lil' Bit Of Jesus, Lil' Bit Of Hank," then to "640 Battlefield Dr" and tell me she doesn't have range.
