Bill Maher Blasts Trump Despite Friendly Dinner at White House

In a bizarre twist of fate, Bill Maher actually doesn't like Donald Trump very much. Recently, he went to the White House with the U.S. president, Dana White, and Kid Rock. Afterwards, the comedian and TV host explains how he found the positives while speaking to him. Then, Seinfeld creator Larry David trashes this idea, comparing it to a pleasant meal with Hitler. Bill takes offense to this idea, repulsed by the comparison outright. However, he clearly took something from David considering that Maher is on TV lashing out at Trump.

In an episode of his late night show, despite arguing that he's actually not all that bad, Bill launches a flurry of criticisms at Trump. Particularly, he notes how the president joked about not being a dictator except on his inauguration. "Trump is the only president when you're relieved when he doesn't keep his campaign promises," Maher jests. "That's the problem with dictator jokes. They don't stay jokes. And flirting with authoritarianism doesn't stay flirting."

Bill Maher Trashes Trump Despite Exchanging Pleasantries With President

"I'm telling you, humans cannot be trusted to just flirt with other attractive humans, and the MAGA crowd cannot be trusted to flirt with dictatorship," Bill adds. "Not everyone who flirts cheats. But all cheating starts with flirting."

What's even stranger is that Maher was pretty staunchly against Trump in his first term. However, as time went on, he rubbed elbows with conservative types while lamenting this idea of 'wokeness' in society. In a conversation with Jay Leno, the comedian trashes this idea that you can't be pals with republicans. After a while, you would probably assume Maher was one himself, especially since he's enjoying meals with the president.

All this registers as flimsy centrism with no real values or a grifter trying to find his audience. Regardless, all it does is make him look silly.
