It is hard to imagine that there is anything that would ruffle Gwen Stefani's feathers. The pop/rock queen has had a tremendously successful career and has worked with various artists. However, she recently opened up that not all of her collaborations were easy. Although the star always looked composed, there were often nerves bubbling under the surface. Collaborators That Gwen Stefani Felt Threatened By

Stefani started her career in the rock band No Doubt. After finding success there she decided to take a leap of faith and branch out on her own. However, she was terrified of doing so. After all, this would be a completely different ball game, becoming a solo artist. Jimmy Iovine, the head of her record label, spoke about her nerves with the Rolling Stone.
He said, "She was nervous about it. It was her first time doing something without her band, and it was a big step." Luckily he told her to go for it, and she did. Imagine all the incredible tunes we would have missed out on if she had let her fear stop her. However, regardless of her success, Gwen Stefani still felt threatened by certain collaborators. In particular, Pharrell Williams, Dr. Dre, and Andre 3000 truly intimidated her.
Showbiz Cheatsheet shared Stefani's thoughts on these collaborations. "It was very threatening to let these people into my world," Stefani admitted. Besides their fame, Stefani also admitted it was hard for her to relinquish any control. She stated, "Because that's what I define myself as — a songwriter. The hardest part was letting someone even suggest an idea and then my ego being able to take it if it was good."
The Greatness That Happened From Those Collaborations
Obviously, those collaborations were a success. In fact, Stefani has gone on to collaborate with Pharrell Williams many other times throughout her career. Just imagine, if she hadn't had the courage to step out on her own, then the drive to let her guard down and collaborate with others, we would have missed out on all of these incredible songs.
